1880: Edmond Jaeger sets up in Paris
Edmond Jaeger (1858-1922), a great French watchmaker and specialist in fine micro-engineering, left his native Alsace following the Franco-Prussian War.
He set up his business premises in Paris In 1880. As watchmaker to the French Navy, he devoted his life to developing mechanisms to measure speed: chronographs, tachometers, kinemometers and counters used in aviation, shipping and automobiles.
